Dress Code is Unfair

Most girls, including me, have a whole closet of strapless of thin-strapped tops, but can’t wear them to school because of the dress code. This topic is important because of girls getting limited to what they can wear. Which basically means they can just wear sweats. This brings me to my next point. We should be allowed to wear off-the-shoulder outfits.

First, It is unfair for girls to get yelled for wearing sleeveless or off-the-shoulder tops for being “too revealing.” According to the text on this article “I think it’s really unfair for girls to get called out at school for being “too revealing.” Wearing off-the-shoulder outfits is a cool trend and it is not fair to the boys because are not affected by this.

Second, they said that the reason that they cannot wear sleeveless tops is that, the boys find it distracting, which is definitely not the case. The texts then states on this article “Students are saying that they are were having hearing that the reason (strapless and off the shoulder) are not allowed is that it distracted the boys and that’s definitely not it at all.” I feel the boys should not be distracted because girl are being looked at they are an object.

Third, Wearing off-the-shoulder tops can be offensive to other students depending on their religion. In this article, on another hand, people should be allowed to dress the way they like, if other people don’t like it they can make suggestions to the other person. Dress code is mainly directed towards girls and that's not fair. I think if there is a dress code that it should be toned down a bit.

I believe that off-the-shoulder outfits should be allowed at school. It is unfair for girls to get yelled for wearing sleeveless or off-the-shoulder tops for being “too revealing.” They said that the reason that they cannot wear sleeveless tops is that, the boys find it distracting, which is definitely not the case. Wearing off-the-shoulder tops can be offensive to other students depending on their religion. Let your principal know, by writing a letter and have people sign it saying they approve this message.
