Best Movies of 2019!!!!!!!!

2019 had a lot of movies to come out, a lot of bad movies and good movies, but these are the top 9 Best. Let's go!

#9 The Lighthouse

Director: Robert Eggers
Starring: Willem Dafoe; Robert Pattinson
Review: The Lighthouse is about two lighthouse keepers who go insane while on a remote island. The film takes place in the 1890s. The film is in Black and white and has an aspect ratio of 4:3 and has goofy-looking effects to look like a movie that came out back then. The cinematography is great, and the film is even nominated for best cinematography at the Oscars!

#8 IT: Chapter Two

Director: AndrĂ©s Muschietti
Starring: Bill Hader; Finn Wolfhard; Bill Skarsgard; Jessica Chastain; James McAvoy; James Ransone
Review: So as you can tell this film has a lot of stars in it. IT Chapter Two is a movie about an evil clown that feeds off of children's fear, but this time The Losers Club is grown up and return to stop Pennywise once and for all. The Film is funny during a lot of scenes with Bill Hader who is great as Richie. Every actor is great even the actor who plays Pennywise is great.

#7 Marriage Story

Director: Noah Baumbach
Starring: Scarlett Johansson; Adam Driver; Laura Dern
Review: Marriage Story is about two parents getting a divorce. Yeah! That is about it. The film has great acting. there are so many scenes where Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson scream at each other and it is great. The film has great editing and cinematography. The film has a basic plot, but the filmmaking is great.

#6 Doctor Sleep

Director: Mike Flanagan
Starring: Ewan McGregor; Rebecca Ferguson; Henry Thomas
Review: Doctor Sleep is the sequel to The Shining that no one asked for and is way better then it should be. The film works because of the director, Mike Flanagan who is one of the best directors working today.  Doctor Sleep is about an adult Danny Torrance 39 years after getting chased by his father around a hotel. he now has to fix his life. The film takes a turn when we learn about this group of people eating off of the energy of kids with the shine, a telepathic ability.

#5 Jojo Rabbit

Director: Taika Waititi
Starring: Scarlett Johansson; Sam Rockwell; Rebel Wilson; Taika Waititi
Review: Jojo Rabbit is a comedy about the end of WWII. The film is about a 10-year-old boy named Jojo who is a superfan of Hitler who finds out his mom is hiding a Jewish girl in his house. They become Friends ner the end of the film. The movie is very funny and I feel anyone could like this movie.

#4 Crawl

Director: Alexandre Aja
Starring: Kaya Scodelario; Barry Pepper; CJI Alligators
Review: Crawl yet being about alligators, The film is actually about a broken relationship between a father and daughter. The film takes place during a hurricane. The main characters get stuck in a crawl space and have to get out before getting eaten alive. The film is very suspenseful and bloody. Just how I like it.

#3 Midsommar

Director: Ari Aster
Starring: Florence Pugh; Jack Reynor; Isabelle Grill
Review: Ari Aster is one of my favorite directors of my generation. He is great at building suspense and crafting an unpredictable story. The film is not afraid to show dark things and offend people. The movie is scary throughout. The end is not s scary as the rest, but it is still a great finale to a great horror film.

#2 Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Director: Mike Dougherty
Starring: Vera Farmiga; Ken Watanabe; Millie Bobby Brown; Kyle Chandler; Thomas Middleditch; Sally Hawkings; Godzilla
Review: Godzilla; King of the Monsters is exactly what I wanted out of a Godzilla movie. The Film has an all-star cast of humans and monsters. Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan are all back from the original movies. I liked seeing new versions of these monsters because it has been almost 20 years since the last time they were on screen. The movie has a cheesy plot that reminded me of the 60s monster movies. The movie has a lot of the original theme music which is awesome to hear in a theater. The film is Godzilla at his best.

#1 Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Director: Quinton Tarintino
Starring: Margot Robbie; Leonardo Dicaprio; Brad Pitt; Al Pacino; Kurt Russel
Review:  Tarintino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is a masterpiece that homages the golden age of cinema spectacularly. The film is inspired by 60s movies and also on the real-life murders of Sharon Tate. Tarintino changes history in this movie, I won't tell you how though. The acting is phenomenal and Tarintino's directing is great. The screenplay is really well done. The heart of the picture is the relationship between Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth, characters who are fictional. Sharon Tate is in the movie played by Margot Robbie, and her role is a lot briefer then Pitt and Dicaprio's. The film is great and I recommend all of you to watch it.
