Now, a point of interest for many of you is hair. Specifically, natural, curly coils non-straight hair. Hair of my texture, namely. Trust me, I want to use this blog for education so let me educate you, my straight-haired friends!
Starting off- a natural hair chart. This chart is a God-send for anyone who's confused about their hair!
Starting with Type one: Type one hair is difficult to damage, and rarely holds a curl, even if you curl it with heat, curls rarely stays. It's very self-sufficient, so avoid using products other than shampoo and conditioner if you can.
Type 2A-2C: Types 2A-2C hair is more wavy hair, which you could brush straight or keep wavy. It's wavy, not curly contrary to popular belief. It holds curls much easier and is more prone to frizz. It is also very hard to damage but needs more moisture than type 1
Type 3A-3C: Types 3A-3C hair is curly hair, which is you brushed dry it would break off and poof up. This hair type holds curls naturally, with heat or without and is "frizzy" unless moisturized or wet. Type 3 is also very easy to break or damage and needs tons of moisture from water, products, and oils.
Type 4A-4C: Types 2A-2C hair is coily hair, which if brushed loses all curl dimension, would break off, and poof up if not moisturized. Only brush while saturated with a leave-in conditioner or saturated with water. The hair is in a natural afro state, and for defined curls, you must add a gel product. It's easy to damage and ne
eds constant moisture. It makes me sad that 4A-4C hair is often looked down on for its lack of defined curls, and is often mistaken for short, or dry, and is often called flat out ugly. It especially affects me, considering I have a mix of 3C, 4B, and mostly 4C hair. That's why I wrote this, to educate you all so the ignorance can stop here.

ReplyDeleteNice!! I think my hair is 2C because I got curliness, frizziness, and thickness. A real pain brushing it! 😎
