Dogs are better than cats

                                              Dogs are better than cats 

           If you are attacked by a burglar, your cat isn't going to do a thing to help you out, but your dog will defend you to death. It is important that everyone should know that dogs are better than cats because dogs are more fun and enjoyable to be around, and if you were to get a pet you should get a dog rather than a cat. It's not hard to see that dogs make better pets than cats and I am going to explain exactly why dogs are better. There are a bunch of reasons why I think dogs are better than cats but two examples are dogs are easier to train and dogs don't need litter boxes to go to the bathroom.

         The first reason why I think dogs are better than cats is that dogs are easier to train than cats.  Veterinarian Jenna Stregowski says, "Training dogs is easier in general, cats train us humans better than we could ever train them. On the other hand, most dogs actually enjoy training and most dogs love work. Plus, many dogs are highly motivated for food and attention." This shows that training dogs is fun and easy for the person and the dog. Plus you can't really control cats that well even if they are trained, and cats will not respond to their names if they are called when dogs will respond to someone calling their name if they are trained. 

        In addition to being easier to train another plus is that dogs don't need litter boxes to go to the bathroom. Ridhima Sood says "A house trained pooch will go outdoors to relieve itself or to do its business. ... Cats use litter boxes placed inside the house. ... So cat owners have to deal with the smell emanating out of their kitties’ toilets. ... Also, the litter boxes need to be thoroughly cleaned and scrubbed once or twice a week." If you got a cat because you would have to clean and empty its litter box pretty frequently. You would also have to buy all of the supplies needed for a litter box too if you got a cat and litter boxes smell pretty bad.  This shows that if you would get a dog it can just go to the bathroom outside and it would be less of a struggle than having a cat.  

      Some say cats are better for apartments and smaller homes. If you had a smaller home you could get just get a small dog the same size or smaller than a cat. Also, a cat's litter box also takes up pretty much space and the smell of it could linger out into the rest of the house. 

     Along with many other reasons, dogs being easier to train and dogs not needing a litter box are two key reasons of why dogs are better than cats. So the next time you are looking to get a pet get a dog instead of a cat.
