Being a pescatarian is better than being a meat eater.

In the summer of 2019, I went to visit my mom, a vegan, in Wisconsin. My sister,

a pescatarian lives with my mom. Whenever I visit them I don’t eat meat, but

when I come home I eat meat. This time that wasn’t going to happen, this time

I would stay strong and do the pescatarian diet at home. It was a little hard at first,

but here we are 8 months later. A pescatarian is a person who does not eat meat

but does eat fish. Being a pescatarian is better than being a meat-eater.

First, being a pescatarian has many benefits, one of them is heart health.

“The study authors say that the heart health benefits of a plant-based diet

include improved blood lipids and lower blood pressure,” says Cathleen Crichton-Stuart, Medical News Today.

You might be asking yourself, “What are blood lipids?” Blood lipids are lipids in the

blood, either free or bound to other molecules. They are mostly transported in a

protein capsule and the density of the lipids and type of protein determines the

the fate of the particle and its influence on metabolism. Lower blood pressure is

good because of the lower risk of stroke or heart disease. The pescatarian

the diet will cause a happier and healthier heart.

Another benefit of the pescatarian diet is that it may also protect people against colorectal

cancers, or cancers the affect the colon and rectum. “According to a 2015 study,

colorectal cancers are the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States,”

said Cathleen Crichton-Stuart, Medical News Today. The pescatarian diet may protect you from cancer and many other things.

On the other hand, Mercury is found in fish. According to Green Facts," Mercury vapors can cause behavioral disorders such as memory loss, headaches, tremors, and more. Then again, fish is one of the healthiest foods you can eat. As long as you don't eat fish every day you will be fine. There are many vegan substitutes for meat as well. Pescatarians have a lot of food options.

In conclusion, the pescatarian diet is better than the meat-eating diet. I have been happier and in a better mood since I started the diet. It isn’t hard, just try it for a week, I’m sure you’ll like it.

  5. Isn't fish meat too? Besides, lean/white meat such as Chicken, Turkey, and yes fish, carry the same benefits, with better taste. And can't too much fish cause mercury poising? Just some thoughts.
