The logo of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It's in Japanese because that is the original language of the series.
Well, every part of JoJo is quite a bit different from the last and the writer and illustrator of JoJo really cares about his work. Sure, those are only two reasons, but that's because this project requires two reasons, but you already know that. I could probably use more to try and persuade you more but I'll just leave it at two and see what you think afterward.
Okay, first up, all eight parts of JoJo are different from the last and the next. This means that every part of JoJo has a new art style, if you're reading the manga that is, every part its own theme, its own main cast of characters, there's quite a bit for each part that is different from other parts. In an interview with Hirohiko Araki, the writer and illustrator of the manga, he said, ¨...he wanted to try a different type of main character. For example, whereas Part 1's Jonathan Joestar was a serious and honest person, Part 2's Joseph Joestar was a trickster that liked to mess with people.¨ In this interview, Araki quite literally said that he wanted a different type of main character for every part. I don't think I really have to explain that very much.
Every main JoJo from 1987 to today. From left to right, Jonathon Joestar, Joeseph Joestar, Jotaro Kujo, Josuke Higashikata, Giorno Giovanna, Jolyne Cujoh, Johnny Joestar, Josuke Higashikata.
My favorite example of the main characters being very different is Jonathon Joestar is very brave, strong, kindhearted, basically, the embodiment of justice, while Johnny Joestar is selfish, weak-willed, hates quite a few people, is basically only in the part for his own self-gain, at least in the beginning that is.
Onto our last reason already, Araki really cares about his work on the series. He's been working purely on JoJo 33 years when he could really switch to a series whenever he wants. The reason he continues to work on JoJo is that he really loves the series and what he's done with it. He's quite proud of his work and he wishes to please the readers of his work by working his hardest on every new chapter that he does. An article about Araki switching from Weekly Shonen Jump to Monthly Shonen Jump states, ¨Araki switched Jojo to monthly so he could take his time doing what he loved, and not having editors and the suits at Shonen Jump make him do what they wanted. A smart move by Araki, as he was safe since Jojo was already stupid crazy popular, so going monthly for him wasn't going to make or break him." In that article, it states that Araki switched to Monthly Shonen Jump so that he wouldn't rush or overwork himself, making it so that he would be able to take his time adding more and more detail to his writing and drawings. He switched so that he also wouldn't be able to be held back by his editors, seeing as how they changed a lot of things that Araki wanted to do in Part 6. He wanted to be free, he wanted to be able to make his own decisions that he knew the readers would like.

An image of Araki's extremely detailed character chart. Araki uses this character chart for every character that he writes into JoJo
Something that some people may have against the series is that some of the community is quite toxic. I can't really disagree with that, some of the community will try to shove JoJo down everyone's throat for absolutely no reason at all. But, that's just a small part of a really great community. This community is extremely talented and kind. JoJo has inspired a lot of people in the community to begin working on their own stories and artwork and the community has a lot of potential to do great things. Also, you shouldn't let your opinion on a series be based on the community. You should base your opinons just on the series itself.
I think that you should watch JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, maybe even read it if you'd like. It really doesn't matter which one you do. You should watch or read JoJo because of how every single part of JoJo is very different from the last or the next and the creator of it really cares about his work on it. I personally watched the entirety of Parts 1-4 and once Part 5 started I really couldn't wait for new episodes to come out so once it reached the White Album arc I began reading the manga. To end this off, I will recommend some sites to read and watch JoJo. For watching you can basically go to any site that streams anime such as Crunchyroll, Vrv, ect. I'm pretty sure the first few parts are on Netflix too. There are surprisingly not too many reliable places to read JoJo though. Two that I'd recommend would be JoJo's Colored Adventure and MangaDex. JoJo's Colored Adventure isn't really the best since some volumes cannot be downloaded but, it's still pretty good nonetheless. MangaDex, on the otherhand, is usually very reliable. At least, for Stone Ocean, Steel Ball Run, and JoJolion it is. I'm not too sure about the previous parts since I switched inbetween JoJo's Colored Adventure and MangaDex for a bit while reading Stone Ocean since some volumes weren't downloadable. Now I am just reading off of MangaDex since all of JoJolion cannot be downloaded on JoJo's Colored Adventure. Also, I'm pretty sure they stopped updating JoJolion on JoJo's Colored Adventure.
Okay, I'm done now. Tell me in the comments if you were convinced or not. Also tell me if you agree that people should watch or they shouldn't. I'm quite interested to hear about what you have to say. Thank you for reading.
