Why Cheerleading Should Be Considered a Sport

Some people think cheerleading is not a sport, some people do. Cheerleading is a sport. Cheerleading requires skill, flexibility, strength, and teamwork.
Cheer incorporates elements of dance, tumbling and gymnastics to create performance routines. "Stunting" is a particular cheerleading activity that involves cheerleaders sitting, standing or squatting on others, such as in pyramids and basket tosses. These performance elements require strength, stamina, balance and timing, all clear athletic qualities. We constantly are dancing, moving, cheering, and throwing girls in the air. We can get very bad injuries, such as sprains of the neck, lower back, knee and wrist, ankle sprains, etc. We work very hard and should get some more respect, we aren't just annoying girls on the sidelines of football games, we are so much more than that. We love each other and the sport, it really brings people together and uses teamwork.
